Biography
Shounak Dharap is a partner at Arns Davis Law, specializing in representing workers, consumers, and others who have been injured or wronged. With a practice focusing on complex litigation and encompassing labor and employment, consumer fraud, elder abuse, sexual abuse, mass torts, and wrongful death actions, Shounak has been recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star every year since 2019. He has achieved significant results on appeal and has been appointed class counsel in federal and state class actions and co-lead counsel in complex, consolidated litigation in federal court.
In addition to his legal practice, Shounak is an adjunct professor at the University of San Francisco School of Law, where he designed and taught an innovative course on litigating workers’ rights in the gig economy. He is also a trained mediator and serves as a community mediator for the City of Palo Alto’s mediation program, where he assists parties in facilitating resolutions to their disputes.
Shounak is also an elected two-term trustee and former president of the Palo Alto Unified School District Board of Education, which is ranked as the #1 unified school district in California. Before joining Arns Davis Law, he worked as a judicial extern for the Honorable Kathleen M. Banke of the California Court of Appeal and the United States Attorney’s Office.
Outside of his professional life, Shounak is a father of two daughters and enjoys swimming, running, hiking, cooking, and writing fiction. His dedication to his clients and community makes him an invaluable asset to Arns Davis Law.
