Curriculum Vitae : Shounak Dharap

Shounak Dharap specializes in class action and personal injury litigation. He has been involved in litigating wage and hour class actions on behalf of misclassified employees, as well as representing injured workers and their families.

Shounak previously served as the elected representative for hundreds of law students as the President of the Student Bar Association at the University of San Francisco School of Law, where he advocated for students’ needs through a variety of initiatives, including the launch of a mental health and substance abuse awareness program and the creation of a dedicated family space for students with children to balance academics and parenting.

Supports litigation efforts in a national wage and hour class action by researching and drafting motions for federal court and arbitration; assisting in developing a litigation strategy; and acting as the firm contact for hundreds of class members. Represents injured workers and their families in personal injury cases.

Assisted the Honorable Justice Kathleen M. Banke in researching and drafting appellate judicial opinions in both criminal and civil law.

Assisted in the prosecution of a public figure for racketeering; drafted a policy memo regarding the efficacy of U.S. narcotics prosecution; and researched and drafted motions in limine and oppositions to motions to suppress evidence in cases involving violent crimes.

Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office

Drafted an advisory memo in support of Proposition 47, a measure aimed at reducing California’s prison population by reclassifying certain nonviolent felonies as misdemeanors. The measure successfully passed with the support of the Santa Clara County District Attorney. Also assisted in the prosecution of violent felonies by researching and drafting motions, investigating case, and preparing trial strategy.
